The Best Easter Ever!

Pastor's Study

I feel the need to stop and talk to my family:  I looked over the congregation this past Sunday (Easter Sunday) and could not get over what God has done in our midst since last Easter.  I saw a group of people that love Jesus and each other (no bickering…no fighting).  I heard the laughter as we simply enjoyed being with each other (even though the Pastor received the brunt of most of the jokes – something about flooding the church when he was filling up the baptistery.)  I saw our new members (30 or so) that were not with us last year.  Last Easter there was only a VERY small handful for Sunday School…this year God blessed us with 62!  I saw children hunting for Easter eggs after service (we had so few children last year – now it seems like they are coming out of the wood work!!)  I saw a number of guests that have just recently begun to worship with us (even a couple of families that were with us for the very first time).  I saw those three precious young people that publically professed Jesus as Savior and Lord.  I simply feel like this was the best Easter ever.  The reason for that is what I see God doing in our family.  South Fork Baptist Church, you are a special group of people!!  And, I want you to know how much your Pastor loves you and how proud he is that God has brought such a wonderful family into his life.  My prayer is that God will continue to work mightily among us!

About Pastor

My Family: My wife and I have been married for 30 years (wow! that's hard to believe.) We have four wonderful children and EIGHT perfect grandchildren!! Education: I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Theology from Tennessee Temple University. After serving Bethel Baptist Church in Ontario, Canada as Youth Pastor and South Buncombe Baptist in Asheville, NC as Associate Pastor, we moved to Wake Forest, NC where I attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 1995, I received my Master of Divinity degree (with languages.) From 1999-2001, I attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary pursuing my Doctor of Ministry degree in Expository Preaching. Ministry: I have had the privilege of pastoring three wonderful congregations (Montwood Baptist 1993-1997; Union Baptist 1997-2002; and, South Fork Baptist 2010-present.) In 2010, God brought a very special group of people into my life. South Fork has become much more than a ministry to my family - it has become our home. If you are looking for a Church to call home, you will not find a better group of people than the family that makes up South Fork.
